Good Gnocchi
Good Gnocchi is a cosy and retro Italian diner headed by Archie’s All Day founder Anthony Brem and Madelene Gay (also Archie’s All Day). Dressed in dark reds and browns, the restaurant has a retro charm. The furniture – a blend of handcrafted hardwood pieces and unique Facebook Marketplace finds – adds to its character.
Jimmy Timber (Good Measure) handled the interiors. Together, Timber, Brem and Gay have curated a space that feels both vibrant and casual. And with seating on the footpath, at the bar and in booths, it’s perfect for a casual midweek catch-up or a romantic first date.
Good Gnocchi has a selection of light antipasti alongside gnocchi, pasta and comforting mains. Each dish takes what the pastificio became known for and elevates it: the popular butter and crispy sage sauce now comes with pumpkin puree and pepita pangrattato, and the traditional Aussie bolognaise has evolved into a Wagyu lasagne gnocchi topped with cheesy bechamel and parmesan. Seasonal ingredients are sourced from nearby neighbours, including Maria’s Pasta and North Carlton Quality Meats.
Alongside the food, there’s fun cocktails and approachable wines (including Brem’s favourite, the Sicilian catarratto). Both drink and food menus are intentionally uncomplicated – Brem and Gay believe in letting the gnocchi shine as a simple and timeless staple.
