Falafel Place
Falafel Place is an all-vegetarian spot on Smith Street with a focus on falafel (of course). Owner Sam Fouad is originally from Iraq, and Falafel Place is a chance for him to share recipes from his home.
The most popular item on the menu is the classic falafel wrap with hummus, salad, pickles and tahini. Another standout is the haloumi za’atar (a spice mix of thyme, oregano, marjoram and sesame seeds). Sabich (an Israeli pita pocket stuffed with eggplant, potato and egg) is also available. Aside from dishes with haloumi and egg, the entire menu is vegan-friendly.
There’s also a popular lunch deal: $13 gets you three falafels with mixed salad and veg from the salad bar. Almost everything else on the menu comes in at just shy of $15. Except for the family mixed plate, which consists of 15 falafels atop a bed of couscous salad, tabbouli, hummus and pickles (with your choice of sauces of varying heat).
It’s in a small takeaway-geared space with a few tables and a front window counter that looks out onto Smith Street.
