Charlie Dumpling is a sophisticated, modern-Asian hangout that’s a step up from street eats, a step down from fine dining, and a welcome addition to the neighbourhood.

This seemingly small space in fact seats approximately 60 indoors, at the bar and outdoors. With bright orange tabletops set against bare brick and monochrome illustrations by Raphael Rizzo, this is a place that's fresh and cool without taking itself too seriously.

While the ‘dumpling’ part may suggest that this place is a one-trick wonder, chef Dylan Roberts’s (Cutler & Co., Claremont Tonic) menu proves otherwise.

There’s a range of small bites, salads and grilled skewers to enjoy over drinks, but also a range of inventive savoury and sweet dumplings, such as the snapper, chili, lime and black bean, or the doughnut dumpling with lychee, rosewater and coconut to dine on beneath the craypots dangling from the ceiling. The specialty cocktails are bang-on as well, making this the perfect spot for a fun night out, any night of the week.
