Benzina Cantina is a good-times Mexican eatery set across converted shipping containers and a warehouse. In 2018, it was opened by motorcycle stuntman “Lukey” Luke Follacchio and the team behind Los Hermanos, before being taken over by Domenic Luppino and Heather Rusden.

The sprawling neon-lit venue offers a few different experiences. There’s outdoor seating and a cactus-lined shaded courtyard, which lead into a spacious dining hall and main bar serving up Margaritas, Mexican beer and an extensive tequila and mezcal range.

As for food, tacos and burritos dominate the menu and might be customised with battered fish, pork belly, braised beef, spiced chicken or mixed vegetables. They might sit alongside less conventional items like Blanco Curry Chicken (flour tortillas filled with spiced, cream-braised chicken) and the Tex-Mex classic, chimichangas (deep-fried burritos).

At the back (in the former home of a motorbike shop) is the bar and function space Bar Blown Crazy, which buzzes with locals a few nights a week. Head there, or up the winding spiral staircase to find its rooftop terrace – ideal for a few sunset cervezas.

With room for up to 250 people across the venue, the cantina is a popular nightlife destination, but the food is the main attraction.
