Belle’s Hot Chicken Windsor is the chain's third outlet. Like Fitzroy and Richmond before it, Windsor is all about spicy fried chicken and natural wine. But it has its own identity – it's more like a bar than a restaurant. It's the kind of place you can visit by yourself and chat to the bartenders about wine or with a group.

This venue caters to Chapel Street’s slightly younger demographic, with slightly cheaper by-the-glass options that rarely break the $12 mark. If you prefer beer (and you will, if you order the Really F**king Hot spice rub), there are a few on tap, including Melbourne Bitter and Brooklyn Lager.

Drumsticks have replaced dark meat (thighs), but otherwise chicken and sauces are the same as at the other stores. Hot-fish and hot-chicken sandwiches are on the menu, plus newer additions such as hot Cloudy Bay clams, buffalo-style chicken ribs, and collard greens.

There's also a Windsor-only menu item: hot quail, served with red-eye mayonnaise and a pickled-cauliflower and moonshine-smoked golden raisin salad. It’s inspired by the dish McGlone cooked when he appeared as a guest on MasterChef.
