Fenton&Fenton carries an eclectic mix that includes furniture, linen, rugs, fashion, artwork, jewellery and taxidermy. Owner Lucy Fenton says she likes to stock things that are different, and this collection so colourful and diverse is that it’s hard to know where to forage first. The eye roves from a wooden Rajasthani bed to a fireplace crammed with antlers. A rack of hand-printed and -dyed kaftans complement a cabinet filled with beads and silver bangles. Three Coptic crosses and five brass candlesticks add a touch of gothic and are overlooked by a majestic deer’s head.
The diversity of the collection is a testament to Fenton’s taste in unusual, quirky and whimsical curios. One well-chosen piece should add an exotic touch to any room. The store also offers custom-made rugs and furniture.
A keen traveller, Fenton was inspired to open this store after backpacking through India. The stock is ever changing, so as to reflect her most recent trips to Indonesia, India, China, France and Morocco. A photo album showing house interiors offers ideas on how to place these wares in a contemporary setting.
