Couples perch on wooden stools, comparing tasting notes. Mums and dads enjoy a late-afternoon beer while their kids have a soft drink. Beer lovers peruse the impressive shelves, full of local favourites and international rarities.

Point Cook doesn’t seem like a likely place to find one of the best beer selections in Melbourne. But Adrian Chong’s store would shine bright wherever it was located.

The Point Cook resident is part-owner of Taps Beer Bar in Kuala Lumpur, but wanted something closer to home. He modelled his bottle shop/bar concept on Richmond’s Slowbeer, which he’s a longtime fan of. It’s a place where the community can congregate and discover new beers; or grab a selection to enjoy at home.

The eight taps and extensive range of packaged beers are always changing; and a short range of wines keeps the beer deniers happy. Like any good bar, there’s nuts and nibbles from Wondersnack Co, or you can go all-out and order from the fish-and-chip shop next door; or nearby Indian and Chinese takeaways.
