Features
Mythos GR is just like Greece. Stark white walls are like those of the islands’ villages. The ocean-blue tiles resemble Greece’s iconic waters. The gyros and souvlakis taste pretty close to the homeland’s, too.
Owner George Karakousis used to own a gyros bar in Brisbane. His long, narrow restaurant is one of the smallest in Oakleigh’s competitive food arena (it’s situated next door to cake giant, Vanilla), but its food speaks volumes – the meals are authentic and affordable.
While wraps are the heroes at Mythos GR, customers can build a Greek feast from the mezze (appetisers) menu, featuring favourites such as saganaki; loukaniko (Greek sausage), olives and dips.
A bar sits at the rear of the restaurant, serving a mix of European and Australian wines, spirits and beers. But in the spirit of the place, you should ask for a Fix Hellas, or even more fitting, a Mythos lager.
