The Pint of Milk
In the heart of the Western suburbs, The Pint of Milk is a budding, comfortable little cafe.
It draws its name from the building's previous identity as a suburban milk bar and there's been a concentrated effort made to retain some of this heritage. The newspaper boards that flank the entrance and the jar full of mixed lolly bags on the counter are nice touches. The decor is warm and welcoming with a handful of smaller tables scattered across the hardwood floor and a large communal table taking pride of place near the entrance. High ceilings and exposed lighting add an airy, laid-back feeling. The space is busy – but not overwhelming – with a steady stream of young couples, families and local business types filing in and out for breakfast and lunch.
Serving deftly executed favourites along the lines of delicious poached eggs with a spiced chickpea and tomato cassoulet, served with sumac labne and flatbread. For something heartier, there's a bacon and eggs bagel, or classic steak and eggs with a balsamic and Worcestershire glaze. Throw in delicious Five Senses Coffee and friendly, efficient service and you've got a local that you'd be proud to call your own (even if it isn’t).
