You needn't worry whether your room at The Mitchelton Hotel has a good view or not. Here, your designer chambers either look out over the Goulburn River or the property's idyllic vineyard.

In addition to 54 rooms and four suites, the Hecker Guthrie-designed hotel features a sanctuary-like spa, and an infinity pool. The sleek day spa alone is worth a trip from the city.

The expansive treatment list includes a range of massages, body polishes, facials and more with first-class therapists. The spa has panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, making it a pretty special place to relax, renew and unwind. Couples treatments, mum-to-be pampering sessions, and group bookings – birthdays, hens parties welcome – are all on offer, and the spa even has a specific offering for kids.

Throughout the hotel, natural stone and timber finishes complement several existing Robyn Boyd- and Ted Ashton-designed buildings that date to 1973.

The design was inspired by Mitchelton's country location, in particular the horse studs around the Nagambie region in which it's situated. Specially commissioned photos by Melbourne photographer Trevor Mein and works by artist David Band adorn the walls. Rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows, private terraces, timber joinery and Bose sound systems.

The luxury accommodation is part of Mitchelton Winery, a well-known vineyard belonging to Jayco caravan company owner Gerry Ryan. The property is located in the Goulburn Valley, less than two hours out of Melbourne.
