Features
Now with seven venues across Melbourne, Farro has built a small empire thanks to one of the city's most inclusive Italian menus. True to its name (Farro means “spelt” in Italian), this casual chain uses organic spelt – an ancient, gut-friendly wheat variety – in all its pizzas, pastas and bread items.
While Farro's dietary focus is a sign of the times, the important traditions are upheld here, and you’ll find everything from a classic Margherita to a prosciutto pie on the 11-strong pizza menu. All options can be made vegan or with an entirely gluten-free base. Pastas also lean classic. Think prawn-studded spaghetti gamberi; tagliatelle slicked with lamb ragu; and a lemony pesto gnocchi.
Farro’s Moonee Ponds restaurant has the same smart feel as its siblings. Think exposed brick walls, emerald banquette seating, and a hulking woodfired oven presiding over an open kitchen.
