Good breakfast isn’t hard to find in Melbourne. Drive down any busy shopping strip and you’ll most likely land yourself in a cafe with regular clientele, the strong waft of coffee and a host of typical breakfast items. Willim Espresso is one such example. Just off Glenferrie Road in Malvern, Willim offers locals a place to perk up with five blends of coffee on offer.

The decor is casual yet inviting, with magazines lined up against the white counter. Limited daily specials are splashed across the blackboard, but most just come in for the coffee, breakfast rolls and cakes. Simple wraps are filled with seasonal fresh produce like sweet potatoes and rocket, homemade fruit friands and brownies entice, but the favourites are still well-poached eggs, cleverly executed on a portable stove top.

Owner Gerrick Numan, previously of local favourite Collective Espresso in Camberwell, and currently also of Hobba, opened this cafe with one intention: seriously good coffee paired with simple food. Building quite a reputable following in the industry, this is one of the best spots for coffee in the area.
