The name “Stockroom” calls to mind a small, windowless room at the back of a shop. Think again. The huge, 1000-square-metre converted butter factory contains three separate art galleries; a retail store for homewares, jewellery and clothing; a cafe and barbershop,; and a workshop space for teaching metalworking and drawing.

The artwork is curated to showcase innovative and unique pieces across all disciplines, while also supporting the local creative community. Public exhibitions are held on the second Saturday of every month from 4.30pm, which conveniently coincides with the Kyneton Farmer’s Market.

Owners Jason Waterhouse and Magali Gentric have extensive backgrounds in the arts, having previously founded Wolf at the Door in Hepburn Springs.

Waterhouse is an exhibiting artist at Stockroom, too. His sculptures distort everyday objects and bring a new perspective to them. His largest piece, a disfigured 1972 red Holden Kingswood, is displayed in the outdoor courtyard.
