On the second Saturday of each month, St Paul’s Park in the centre of Piper Street comes alibve. Farmers and growers descend from the wider region to showcase their products, ranging from organic fruit and vegetables, to baked vegan goods, fresh eggs, local fish and cheeses made the old-school way.
Many stalls offer samples, so you can try cured meats, olives, jams, sourdough and raspberry vinegar. The smell of coffee, barbequed meats and other hot foods fills the air. On the upper level by the church, you’ll find handicrafts, candles, cartoonists and a florist.
Get in early to score the best produce, or sleep in and mosey down around 10am o’clock if you’re just here for the happy community vibe. By one o’clock1pm, many of the stalls have packed away their goods and the Anglican Parish Church soon returns to an open lawn.
