The Local

Nathan and Fran Warren opened The Local in 2017 and have grown a loyal following thanks to a winning combination of early morning coffee and healthy eats that match the town’s seaside lifestyle.

The takeaway coffee window – initiated in response to pandemic restrictions – opens at 6am, catching early risers and those heading out for their morning salty tumble. Dine in and your Allpress coffee will be made with Gippsland Jersey milk and served in a ceramic cup made by Zak Chalmers of nearby Valley Plains Pottery.

The kitchen sources from Gippsland producers as much as possible. Pair a house-baked brownie or locally made vegan treat with a turmeric latte or freshly pressed juice. Pack a loaf of sourdough for the road – it’s made in small batches by the Bearded Baker of Inverloch.

There’s a handful of seats inside, where works by local artists line the walls, and a sun-drenched courtyard out the back.
