Since opening in 1992, Grand Laguna has become one of Hawthorn’s foremost Asian grocers. It’s known for its extensive range of hard-to-find products and produce from Southeast Asia. Indonesian, Malaysian, Thai and Singaporean goods are in high supply here. There’s a smaller but still pronounced offering of Japanese, Korean and Chinese specialities, too.
Interestingly, you’ll also find a decent array of Latin American products – especially from Colombia. Come here for arepas, dulce de leche, plantain chips and fresh guava. Elsewhere on the shelves, there’s frozen food; ready-to-eat meals; family-sized packs of Yakult and sweets such as Japanese lychee gummies and fresh pandan cakes.
