When Morgan Cottee started Blendco with schoolmates in 2013, it was a van filled with more bananas than they could sell. It travelled to more than 30 music festivals in its first summer selling smoothies.
Blendco continues to make health playful and accessible, but today its home base is a shop with exposed brick, greenery and – you guessed it – blenders. Cottee runs the smoothie, juice and superfood hub with fellow health enthusiast James Lowthian.
The most popular blend is the Biggie Smalls (banana, coconut, almonds, cacao) but green smoothie fans should go for the spinach, mint and apple Popeye blend.
For something equally nourishing but more substantial, go a smoothie bowl blended with acai, dragon fruit or baobab. This Superfood blend is sold online and sprinkled over bowls and blends in store.
The boys’ pride and joy are their bliss balls. Initially, they sold 100 of the vanilla and macadamia or salted caramel balls weekly. Today, each week means hand-rolling thousands of balls in store to send to stockists around the country. No Blendco trip is complete without one.
