Features
Sabi Sounds (from the crew behind Bar Selecta) blends elements of a cafe, bar and record store, with coffee, specialty non-alcs and sweet snacks on the menu. Start your day with a batch brew, then stick around into the night for an ever-changing range of house cocktails.
But the real pull here is the vinyl and the sound system. The space is anchored by two 50-year-old JBL speakers imported from Japan. You’ll hear them pumping soul, funk, jazz, disco and more. A retail corner stocks second-hand records, and towards the back of the cafe is a cosy, maroon-washed room of listening booths with turntables and headphones, where guests are invited to relax and play from a library of records. Beyond that, a sun room.
Sabi may be cool, but it’s also community focused. There are weekly run clubs, artist residencies, creative events, vinyl swap sessions and even car meets. And the team is always open to event pitches.
