When you walk into Finders Keepers Cafe you’ll be greeted by co-owner Sean Minter (proudly manning the La Marzocco coffee machine), with his partner Kirsten Baker standing by to take orders.

After seeing the space advertised on Gumtree, Baker convinced Minter the former catering business had the potential to be reinvented as a cafe. The couple worked for a month on renovations, with doors officially opening in June 2014.

The 20-seater space was designed by Baker, with the benches, cabinets and tables all handmade by Minter. The interior is minimal and clean with personal touches such as an owl painting from Bali. Herbs are grown in house and are on display throughout.

The food is simple and fresh with a brunch-style menu that will be familiar to customers. The Healthy Wake Up has been a mainstay menu item; rocket, cherry tomatoes, avocado, crispy bacon, goat’s cheese, parmesan croutons topped with poached eggs. A rotating range of takeaway salads and sandwiches are made on site daily.

Pastries and bread are by Noisette and coffee is by Veneziano. Cakes are made in house with a selection delivered from Little Bertha.

The cafe sells locally made honey by Bee Local and a selection of teas by the Yarra Valley Tea Company.
