At Motor, the main attraction is wine. The ethos isn’t regional or varietal, but built around the idea of wines that leave a lasting impression. The 120-seat wine bar is in a heritage-listed motor garage from 1912, where it gets its name.

The team has honoured the history of the space through the name and design, keeping the original curved brick facade. But new touches, like the black-and-white chequered flooring and custom woodfired oven, are a nod to European-style bistros. The kitchen is all about stripped-back, simple dishes cooked over wood flames. Expect a few wine bar staples and some protein-leaning mains that hero local produce.

Melbourne Demons captain Max Gawn is at helm of the European-inspired spot, alongside business partners Rich Donovan and Craig Tate, with whom he also owns nearby wine bar East End, and Matt Jones.
