Features
Owning a cafe had long been a bucket list item for Travis Beckley. With the help of a few family members, Bear and Bean is that dream brought to life.
The cafe is warm and inviting – you’ll probably end up ordering a second coffee, just so you can hang around. Rustic original features have been retained. Timber ties the fit-out together, with a pitched roof and wooden beams drawing your eye to the main attraction: a ceiling of blonde timber boards, covered in doodles drawn by the family.
While the venue itself is comfortable, comfort food isn’t really its thing. The biggest priority at Bear and Bean is to keep their menu health-conscious and easy to take on the road. Those who have food allergies will be pleased to note the cafe caters to gluten-free, dairy-free and FODMAP customers.
The Middle Eastern-inspired vegan bowl has earned itself quite the fan base, although a lot of people add non-vegan items such as bacon or haloumi. Available to take away and perfect for your lunchbreak, Bear and Bean’s rotating daily salads are generally sold out by lunchtime.
