After taking some time out as a new dad, Jason Pitt (former owner of Gertrude’s Brown Couch and Hektor Woodleys) returns to hospitality with his new wood fire pizza restaurant and Corey Feldman-themed cocktail bar.
Hoping to offer a bit of “cheekiness” in an informal setting, Pitt is as enthusiastic about drawing a mature, family-based crowd as he is about creating a haven for mates to meet over a beer.
A quality domestic craft brew list, which includes Moo Brew, Red Duck and a seasonally changing 2 Brothers on tap, won’t hurt the cause.
Award winning pizza maestro Alessandro D’Auria (ex-Pizze e Fichi in Kew) spins a variety of traditionally Italian thin-crusted discs, with the tomato, bocconcini, salami and chilli not short on punch. Shared plates and sides are joined by rotating wood fire pies, lasagne or pasta of the day, with bubbles, whites and reds playing a supporting role.
Hard to ignore is Feldman’s Greek and Italian heritage (think bricks, arches and pillars) and a newly hung moose antler purchased from Smith Street Bazaar.
Although approaching summer, the venue’s three fireplaces are sure to make this a warm bunker during colder months.
