Husband and wife team Jesse and Vanessa Gerner, the brains behind much lauded tapas restaurant Añada in Fitzroy have done it again, creating a relaxed, friendly space where diners can enjoy a quick bite or settle in for an enjoyable evening.

As Broadsheet reported in June, the duo began work on new venture The Aylesbury rooftop and restaurant at the beginning of winter, timing the build and fit-out so as to be open in time to enjoy the warm evenings of spring and summer.

Spanning two levels at its Lonsdale Street location, guests can dine in at the ground floor restaurant or enjoy a drink from the carefully compiled wine and cocktail list on the fifth floor rooftop, accompanied by stunning city skyline views.

Featuring small raciones and larger share plates, as well as a feasting menu, The Aylesbury champions heritage, seasonal, local and organic produce (with Spanish origins). Dishes are created using specialty ingredients such as Wessex Saddleback pork, Belted Galloway beef and other rare-breed animals. All produce is smoked, cured, baked and pickled on site, accompanied by delicacies from the family’s home garden and beehive.
