Inspired by a want to enhance his local community and work closer to his home and family, Alastair Dobbs (most recently restaurant manager at Enoteca on Richmond’s Church Street) has opened Os Kitchen & Wine Bar in Hampton. Designed by ACRD, the room is soft, elegant and fitting of the area. “We didn’t want another polished concrete, minimalist space,” says Dobbs. “They look good, but we wanted something more sophisticated to suit the area, so our customers feel really comfortable.”

Os is a flexible lunch and dinner venue where you can indulge in a three-course meal, or pop in for a plate of charcuterie and glass of wine. It’s adaptable and that’s how Dobbs and his wife Marie, planned it. “We are governed by our community,” says Dobbs. “We live two minutes down the road and our suppliers of fish, meat and produce are all local.” Chef Rachel Ginty – who was sous chef at Cicciolina before becoming proprietor of St Kilda and Windsor Delis – is behind the small but comprehensive menu and Dobbs has built a good wine list. Word is there are queues for Saturday lunch already.
