Sometimes it feels like we’re animals hibernating for the winter with the stockpiling of things we buy to consume over Christmas time. Markets are rammed for weeks before, procuring all the good for our garden parties, backyard barbeques and picnics in the sun. We make sure we have all that we need for those public holidays when we won’t be able to dash out to pick up the forgotten ingredient for our eggnog.
Over the weekend we were rubber necking up at the Preston market, picking up salami, donuts, flowers and fresh pasta, and met some of the friendly market vendors on our way. Saturdays at about midday is the best time to go, it’s just before the market closes for a few days, so fresh produce flies out the door at crazy cheap prices. We were there to pick up the bargains, dodge the flying fruit and escaped with all we need for the next couple of weeks of indulging.
