It seems there’s a bit going on along Bridge Road, Richmond at the moment, with Osteria la Passione opening recently and The Collection changing hands. This inner city strip seems to be developing a new profile for Melbourne's dining and nightlife culture.

With extensive experience in the food and wine industry, co-owners Rob Hagen and Christian Vance are the team behind this new eatery, OST. Hagen’s exceptional training at Les Roches in Switzerland has seen him manage restaurants in Melbourne including The Point in Albert Park Hotel and Church Street Enoteca. Vance has pursued his passion for wine, working in the industry for a decade.

Drawing on timeless mid-century design for the fit-out, the space at OST conveys a sleek Nordic feel, with modern-inspired furniture, and accommodates a private dining area, formal dining area, seated bar space, lounge, indoor/outdoor terrace and street-side dining.

Their summer menu offers an Australian take on small share-plates, driven by quality ingredients and simplicity in dishes; duck and shitake mushroom spring rolls, soft-shell crab served on daikon kimchi, deep friend school prawns and hot and sweet roasted eggplant. Desserts include banana fritters in a ginger beer batter and rose and lychee semifreddo. The wine list is a impressive combination of Australian, New Zealand and European wines from France, Spain and Germany.

Echoing an enjoyable soundtrack in the background - OST is an acronym for ‘Original Soundtrack’ which translates to ‘east’ in German - and being located east of the CBD, it all makes sense.
