With several locations across Melbourne, as well as its fleet of food trucks, Mr Burger continues to grow and evolve. Its newest venue opened in Bentleigh two weeks ago, with a new look and a new concept.

The newest Mr Burger marks the beginning of what is to come for all its locations: new branding, new diner-style design, new cooking equipment and a new ordering app called 100 Orders. It allows customers to order and pay from their phone in-store.

“We’re looking at how we can make the current experience better than it is right now,” says owner Daragh Kan. “It’s about touching on all points – ordering the food, the interior and the design.”

Kan has also brought on chef and founder of Belle’s Hot Chicken Morgan McGlone to help fine-tune the menu.

“It’s really not about re-inventing the menu, because we know our customers already love it … it’s about working with him to tweak it to make it even better,” says Kan. “We looked at everything, from our buns and cheese, to the patties.”

One new addition is the Mr Deluxe Burger, made up of a beef patty, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and a new zesty sauce. Onion rings, house-made hot sauce and custom burger seasoning have also joined the menu.

Over the next few months, the updated offering will be rolled out across all Mr Burger locations.

Projects of Imagination designed the Bentleigh store, and Mr Burger's new typeface. The fit-out is inspired by American diners, with an industrial edge in the form of concrete benches, seating and tables.

Located opposite Bentleigh train station, the decision to open in this part of the south-east came down to Kan looking for sites in a close-knit community outside the typical food hubs in the north and south.

“On our first day when we opened, we had a real cross-section of people coming through, which is what Mr. Burger has always been about,” he says. “We have everyone from tradies and office workers, to parents coming in with young kids, and then couples into the night.”
