Cheese maker Nick Haddow of Bruny Island Cheese Co. always thought there was a need for a cheese festival in Australia that focuses solely on domestic product.

Clearly so did Melburnians, because Haddow and Bottle Shop Concepts’ new cheese event, Mould, has had to add a night session to cope with demand for the inaugural festival. The day session has already sold out.

Mould will showcase more than 80 varieties of Australian cheese – all of which you can sample and purchase – from 20 local producers.

The new session will give an extra 800 cheese-lovers an opportunity to get up close and personal with local producers such as Shaw River Buffalo, Holy Goat and Milawa. Bottle Shop Concepts is keeping things domestic on the drinks front, with loads of local beers, ciders, wines and liquor.

Mould: A Cheese Festival’s night session runs from 6pm to 9pm on Saturday September 2 at Meat Market, 5 Blackwood Street, Melbourne. Tickets are $40–$45. Buy them here.
