Recently opened restaurant Josie Bones - brainchild of Masterchef competitors Chris Badenoch and Julia Jenkins - is a newcomer to the bustling end of Smith Street (near Gertrude). Perhaps proof that a big reality show can’t keep a good pair down, it sits in a pocket of restaurants including Huxtable, Gigibaba, Boire, Ladro and the Gertrude Street Enoteca.
As proven time and time again, nose-to-tail and beer was Badenoch’s thing and he has decided to stick to what he knows. Emphasis here is on the beers, with a list 130 strong, dedicated to its consumption with an option of a “Beer Flight.” Beer Flights are three beers chosen every week at a 110mL serve of each, to match three standard drinks as a sampler of what is on offer.
The menu reads like a Meatlover’s dream - in case the giant print of a skinned rabbit on the feature wall didn’t say enough - with items such as scotch eggs, crackling of the day, trotter fritters and black pudding, encouraging shared eating over a beverage.
