Gelato Messina is putting its own twist on the traditional trifle this festive season with a limited-edition creation, The Christmas Coma.
The decadent dessert can feed up to 20 people and features layers of peach jellies; vanilla-custard gelato; sherry-soaked jam rolls; blood-peach sorbet; whipped vanilla cream; and raspberry and marsala jelly.
Doubling down on the intensity, the dessert is then topped with raspberry meringue and garnished with white-chocolate leaves and cherry truffles. It comes with a bag of chocolate-coated nuts and “rice crispies”, and one litre of Messina brandy custard.
The Christmas Coma will be available for collection between 12pm and 10pm on December 22 and 23 or until 6pm on Christmas Eve from Messina’s Fitzroy and Windsor stores. It’ll set you back $120.
