If you’ve never spotted the Hoy Pinoy stand at the Queen Vic Night Market, it might be because it’s almost always obscured by a hungry crowd. The Filipino street food stall has a loyal following, and fans of Hoy Pinoy will be pleased to know that founders Megan Phillis and James Meehan will be launching a new eatery named Frankie Says in mid-January in Abbotsford.

With Meehan stepping up as head chef, the riverside restaurant and bar will serve up antipasto, sweet and savoury panzerotti (think of a mini calzone) and stone-oven pizzas.

The venue will seat around 90 people, including an outdoor deck to watch the foot and bike traffic pass along the Yarra.

Until then, a mobile Frankie Says panzerotti cart will be at the Queen Victoria Night Market each Wednesday and at the Coburg Night Market each Friday in December.

Frankie Says will open in mid-January 2015.
