With a line up that reads like a who’s who of the Melbourne underground baking scene, the Flour Market’s Valentines Day themed ‘Heart-Bake’ sale is set to go off.

But who are all these bakers? We give you the lowdown on the line up and what they specialise in, so you can stuff your official ‘Flour to the People’ tote bag and then stuff yourself silly.

THE FIRST TIMERS

Dr Marty’s Crumpets

Martin Beck, aka The Crumpet Man, takes on a different kind of market with his soft and spongy organic, flour-based crumpets.

Waffle Jolie

Crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, Waffle Jolie will be dishing up freshly baked Belgian waffles (need we say more?).

Sweety Pie & Cuddle Cakes

Providing dairy-free, egg-free, soy-free, casein-free, nut-free, and vegan baked goods that are bursting with flavour so you can still enjoy the sweeter things in life.

Shop Ramen

If your taste buds need some savoury relief, these steamed buns by Collingwood duo Pat Breen and Lydia Wegner will hit the spot; the pork belly and pickle are a favourite.

Pure Pie

Another savoury contender; offering free-range chicken and rosemary, braised beef and wine, or chipotle beans with fresh spinach and feta.

La Belle Miette

The small French patisserie will come armed with its house specialty, macarons, in a rainbow of colours and flavours, a trend we hope never goes out of fashion.

All Day Donuts

You might recognise his face from Beatbox Kitchen and Taco Truck. Now Raph Rashid brings us his American-style doughnuts for the first time.

REPEAT ACTS

5 & Dime

Zev Forman returns with his New York style-bagels ranging from the classic to the more adventurous flavour combinations. Rumour has it that he’s been working on a heart-shaped bagel for the occasion.

Bakewell & Co.

Purveyor of American-style pies (the key lime is an Everyday Coffee staple), expect an assortment of pies along with a selection of iconic Aussie biscuits, such as the Monte Carlo and the Kingston.

Freckle

Love brownies? Then get to the Freckle stall first. Flour Market organiser Mark Free suggests that they’re the best around.

Sweet Valentyne

Aptly named Sweet Valentyne return with its vegan and gluten-free fare, accommodating intolerances and allergies alike, without skimping on flavour.

Tivoli Road Bakery

Owner and head baker Michael James will be bringing the loaf, his signature sourdough, along with a selection of sweet pastries to satisfy the sweetest of tooths.

Cobb Lane

While he’s been flat out running his newly opened cafe and bakery Cobb Lane in Yarraville, pastry chef Matt Forbes will be on hand with a full range of creative sweet treats.

Lune Croissant

Aeronautical engineer-turned-pastry chef Kate Reid will have a busy morning running her Elwood store before arriving at the Flour Market, fashionably late, with the much-anticipated, limited-edition Valentine Cruffin.

Danjo

Eastern-European brioche treats abound with babka, bostock (twice baked brioche), and choir pastry with all manner of fillings.
