Collingwood’s Everyday Coffee has set up at MPavillion in the Queen Victoria Gardens, which means that, although only just, it can now say it’s also south of the river. “We just want to let the people over this side of the river know we’re here for them,” says Mark Free of the north-side coffee institution.

Everyday will be set up at MPavillion from 7.30am for the four months over the summer that the events space is providing its program. It will be offering a very similar menu to that at its Collingwood spot.

It has applied for a liquor licence that it will use to complement the program of events, which includes DJs on Sunday afternoons. “We’re also hoping to get some different, interesting food collaborations in here,” says Free.

“It’s not a cafe. It’s an events space. We’re just inhabiting that and making the most of it,” he says.

“It’s always been a big part of what we do – trying to involve different creative people in different collaborations to expand our offering beyond our walls. So this fits in perfectly with that attitude.”

Over summer Free says visitors to MPavilion can look forward to iced coffees and a bottled iced coffee Everyday Coffee is working on. There will also be a New Orleans Iced Coffee (NOLA). “It’s a slightly darker iced coffee, it’s brewed overnight as a concentrate and then mixed with sugar syrup. It uses chicory as well. So it’s a really nice, sweet treat.”
