Batch is a New Zealander’s home away from home in Balaclava, courtesy of expat owner Jason Chan. There are Kiwis throughout Melbourne who tend to burble about the stash of New Zealand lollies that can often be found lurking in the Batch fridge, and it’s a rare Kiwi who doesn’t feel at home here with a Coffee Supreme in hand (Supreme have developed a ‘South’ blend specifically for Batch).

Once you’ve had your caffeine fix, we recommend making the most of the Batch experience and kicking back with a cold beer or a crisp white glass of Marlborough.

It can be tricky to find a seat, so be prepared to wait – especially on a Saturday morning. But it’s worth it, because then you can relax over a brunch that could be anything from the famous kedgeree (rice and smoked fish) to a salad bursting with inspired seasonal combinations.
