Banoffee pie. Lime toast. Strawberry panna cotta. These are just a few of the 30 recipes Doughboys owner Walter McKenzie has in his arsenal. At his CBD store he makes 10 flavours each day.
You never know what’s going to be in the cabinet, but there are two constants. One: the dough is always perfect, whether it’s the yeasted American style, French choux cruller or old-fashioned buttermilk. Two: everything has been made from scratch. If your doughnut has a brownie crumbled over it, the brownie has been mixed and baked right there in the busy open kitchen. If there are nuts on it, they were roasted in-house.
This prize includes a copy of Broadsheet Melbourne Food, plus a bunch of Doughboys’ most popular flavours and some future classics. There’s a mix of ring and filled yeasted doughnuts, choux crullers and buttermilk doughnuts. Flavours include hazelnut milk-chocolate, raspberry cream, macadamia milkshake, maple old-fashioned, pandan, tiramisu, dusted cruller, French toast and the new lemon cheesecake meringue. Doughnuts may not be a Christmas tradition, but win this tray and your family might well make them one.
Entries for the 12 Trays of Christmas competition are now closed.
The total value is $137.95.
