Today is the UN’s International Day of the Girl. So some of Melbourne’s top chefs will wear school dresses all day to support education equality.
The list includes Attica’s Ben Shewry, Bomba’s Jesse Gerner, Chin Chin’s Benjamin Cooper, Pidapipo's Lisa Valmorbida, ESP’s Scott Pickett, pastry chef Pierre Roelofs, A25’s Ray Capaldi, writer and Thermomix chef Dani Valent, and Salvatore Malatesta. Also on board are Sydney’s Adriano Zumbo, and Brisbane’s Jake Nicolson. All will be going about their daily routines in school frocks.
The initiative, run by One Girl’s Do it in a Dress initiative, aims to raise awareness for education equality and fund education for girls in Uganda and Sierra Leone.
From Tuesday October 11 to Sunday October 16, LuxBite will donate half the proceeds from its Hello Kitty Pink cake to Do it in a Dress. Jesse Gerner is also collaborating with West Winds Gin, Campari and Casa Mariol to create a $12 pre-mixed Negroni, available at Bomba, Anada and Green Park. All profits from the sale of the cocktail will go to the cause.
