Generally speaking, the faster your food comes, the larger the compromise on quality. But Rabih Yanni, owner and operator at the Grosvenor Hotel in St Kilda believes not all fast food should be junk food.
In fact, convenience by no means bargains with quality, at least not on Yanni’s watch.
“It’ll take five-to-eight minutes to get a decent burger, with the perfect patty-to-bread ratio,” says Yanni. It just means you no longer have to (inconveniently) remove yourself from the car in order to get an Angus beef burger – just like you’d get from the pub.
The launch of St Kilda Burger Bar also complements the pre-existing drive-through at Grosvenor Hotel, currently servicing the Grosvenor Grocer (gourmet products and pre-made meals) and Bottle Shop (local and international booze). That’s pretty much everything sorted without turning off the ignition.
There are five burgers to choose from, including the local favourite The Grosvenor burger; beef, bacon, lettuce, tomato and pickles with “grandma’s secret ketchup sauce” on a milk bun. The menu also includes chips (a combo deal), a grain salad, the Grosvenor chiko roll and sweeter options such as gelato from 7 Apples.
