This year’s World Class Cocktail Week will play host to over 30 events celebrating all things cocktail. From degustations and masterclasses, to a cocktail party on a boat, here’s ten not to be missed.

A Cocktail Degustation at Eau de Vie

Sit down to a five-course menu designed by head chef Paul Bertheau, paired with specially designed cocktails created by the bar’s award-winning bartenders. Diners are encouraged to relax and enjoy the theatrical, moody atmosphere of Eau De Vie decadent low-lit surrounds. The degustation will last for around three hours; just enough time to make yourself at home.

Cocktails and Canapes at Longrain

The bar at Longrain will serve Thymey Up, a cocktail made with Don Julio Reposado, Mandarine Napoleon, housemade Thai aromatic bitters, thyme-infused maple syrup, lemon, mezcal mist and burnt thyme. Enjoy with scallops three ways: scallop ceviche with citrus vinaigrette and finger lime; “drunken” scallop sashimi with green chilli nam jim, and a honey lemon-myrtle and sandalwood-smoked scallop with citrus salt.

Black Pearl X Bulletin Place at Black Pearl

Two of Australia’s greatest World Class bars will swap teams for two nights during World Class Cocktail Week. Melbourne’s Black Pearl will move into Sydney’s Bulletin Place to showcase cocktails from its new menu, while the bartenders from Bulletin Place will showcase their daily changing, seasonal drinks behind the bar at the Black Pearl. A true one-off experience.

Native Plants and How to Use Them at Bad Frankie

Join World Class bartender Sebastian Costello and Jude Mayall, owner of Outback Chef, for an inventive class on Australia’s native ingredients in cocktails. Learn about the life cycle, seasonal opportunities and flavours of different native plants, and try three exclusive cocktails using Australian botanicals and spirits. Expect ingredients like finger limes, lemon myrtle and pepper berry.

Old’s Cool / New School at Mamasita

Attend a one-off class showcasing Mexican fare and paired cocktails. The Mamasita team will serve up modern tequila and mezcal cocktails alongside traditional Mexican dishes, before flipping the menu to their take on classic cocktails paired with contemporary Mexican snacks. The venue’s extensive tequila list will feature, along with some of its signature dishes. For one afternoon only.

A Journey with Whisky & Cheese at 1806

The team at 1806 will offer four mini serves of cocktails made with a single malt from the Diageo Classic Malt range. Enjoy whisky sorbet on arrival, followed by an interactive tasting session run by 1806’s resident experts. A selection of matched cheeses will be served between tastings, and the bartenders will be on-hand to discuss each spirit.

Mexican Tequila and Tapas at Hotel Jesus

Mamasita’s Smith Street sibling is hosting an afternoon tasting of traditional Mexican food and drink. The menu begins with fresh ceviche tostada served with a Paloma cocktail to ease you in, followed by three dishes paired with an accompanying tequila or mezcal, featuring Don Julio 1942 tequila. Expect tacos, flautas and a bittersweet citrus dessert.

Negroni Educational at Nieuw Amsterdam

The Negroni is a cocktail classic with countless variations. In this masterclass, bartenders and chefs will pair five versions of the drink with different foods, to show how a range of flavours can both match and change the taste of your drink. PS40 X The Beaufort at The Beaufort

The Sydney-based soda bar and factory will take over The Beaufort for the first night of World Class Cocktail Week, pairing custom-made sodas with Diageo Reserve spirits. Sodas will be cold-freighted down to Melbourne, including a range created for the event, such as a native Root Beer designed to celebrate the return of The Beaufort’s famous Chop Shop burger.
