Melbourne’s Bluebonnet Barbecue is taking over the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club for a fundraising summer pop-up, Beach Bonnet BBQ.

Chef Chris Terliker and the Bluebonnet team will fire up the smoker every night from 5pm on the surf club’s lawn to serve a barbeque menu that includes pork ribs, oak-smoked chicken and Berkshire pulled pork with kohlrabi, apple and coriander slaw.

And it’s for a good cause. The surf club has a new clubhouse in its sights for 2018 and proceeds from Beach Bonnet BBQ will go towards its building fund.

To go with the good food and sunshine, there’ll be lawn games, picnic rugs, Streets ice creams and soft drinks. Sounds like the perfect summer.

Beach Bonnet BBQ launches on Boxing Day, December 26 at noon and will be open daily from 5pm to 11pm from December 27 through the summer. Closing date to be confirmed.
