These wine bars and shops around town know their stuff and, importantly, will be open tomorrow.

Cult of the Vine
Unlike other bars Cult of the Vine has no formal list. Owner Brad Lucas chats with customers, offering drops by the glass based on a guest’s mood, fancy or fixation. The shop has a broad selection of minimal-intervention, small-vineyard wines from Australia, France, Italy, Germany, Australia, Portugal and Spain.

7 Florence Street, Brunswick

Milton Wine Shop
“No wine snobbery” is a strict policy at the Milton Wine Shop. Trying new wines and asking questions is encouraged at this friendly and inviting local watering hole. You can opt to sit in for a glass and pair it with a cheeseboard and jaffles from the menu.

1427 Malvern Road, Malvern

Hampton Wine Co.
The owners’ extensive experience in fine dining is reflected in the Hampton Wine Co.'s well-selected local and international wines and inventive, seasonal food menu. The bar has a general license, which means you can take bottles away with a $10 discount off the in-house price.

Valley Cellar Door
With 230 bottles of wine to choose from, and 150 bottles of craft beer to drink in or takeaway, you’re spoiled for choice here. Cheese, antipasto, charcuterie boards and pizza can be to ordered in-house, but you can BYO food, too.

18–20 Hall Street, Moonee Ponds

Clever Polly’s
The owners named their shop after the children's book Clever Polly and the Stupid Wolf, as a nod to the struggle between independent winemakers and their mass-produced competitors. The bottle shop-cum-bar offers one of Melbourne’s best ranges of natural wines, craft beers and unpasteurised sake sourced from small producers.

The original McCoppins was a wine bar and gastro pub in Fitzroy (it was where the Fitzroy Town Hall is now).

The business has changed with the passing decades, but it is still a reliable go-to for a decent bottle.
