What’s happening around town
• Parisian-inspired Sydney bar Caravin is popping up at Pour Diane in North Melbourne this Saturday January 31. Drop in from 4pm for Adaption wines and freshly shucked oysters.
• Fitzroy cafe Lumen People is now hosting dinner service from 5pm on Thursdays through Sundays. Walk in or reserve a table and order plates such as pork scotch with stone fruit and curried almond; cured ocean trout with confit fennel; and caramelised koji parfait with blackberries.
• Hot listed Pendant has launched a Julep menu to help mitigate the hot weather. There are three takes on the classic cocktail: a Georgia Mint Julep with peach brandy and cognac; a Garden Julep with mint, dry vermouth, pastis (an anise-flavoured spirit) and gin; and a Cactus Julep with mint, orange, Campari and mezcal.
