Attica head chef Ben Shewry is putting together the “anti-festival”, What a Wonderful World. The event is a chance to connect those in the food industry with the wider community and to reflect on different ideas, “with the same DIY ethos of the punk bands and skateboarders he [Shewry] admired growing up.”

Happening over a weekend in October, the Saturday will consist of a day of free talks by chefs from a variety of backgrounds, including Los Angeles taco master, Roy Choi, Inaki Aizpitarte from Le Chateaubriand, Peter Gilmore from Quay as well as Lucky Peach editor Chris Ying, cook Margot Henderson from England and Coi chef Daniel Patterson, among others.

On Sunday the line-up will head to the kitchen to prove wrong the old adage about too many chefs with a $500-a-head lunch at Rippon Lea Estate. Proceeds will be donated to Helping Hoops, a charity that teaches life skills to underprivileged children through basketball.
