StreetSmart Australia deserves a collective pat on the back. The non-profit organisation hosted its seventh Front of House All Stars Dinner fundraiser over the weekend as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, raising more than $36,000, up from $26,000 last year.

The annual fundraiser involves seven of Melbourne’s top front-of-house professionals, including host Simon Denton (Izakaya), Adam Cash (Union Dining), Sam Christie (Longrain), Sean Kierce (Ladro) and Ainslie Lubbock (Pei Modern).

Donations from Sunday dinner will go towards StreetSmart’s efforts to eradicate homelessness in Australia, an issue close to the heart of founder and CEO Adam Robinson.

“What I love about the All Stars Dinner fundraiser is that it celebrates the front of house, often overlooked in the chef-centric world of hospitality. Many suppliers donate food and wine and staff volunteer – it is an amazing team effort,” says Robinson.

StreetSmart was established in 2003 to offer support and assistance for the homeless, which they achieve through fundraising, financial grants, assisting smaller organisations and raising community awareness.

The organisation’s fundraising efforts are also supported through several annual events, DineSmart, CafeSmart and RunSmart.

Still reveling from the success of Sunday’s fundraiser, Robinson has clear sights for StreetSmart this year. “2015 will see StreetSmart building the CafeSmart event in August and focussing on increasing the community impact of its new crowdfunding site ‘StreetSmart Projects’,” he says.

To date, StreetSmart has raised $3 million towards assisting the homeless. For more information about StreetSmart and their fundraising events click here.
