Mo Wyse and Shannon Martinez of Fitzroy’s Smith & Daughters and Smith & Deli have announced they will release their first cookbook in November.

Published by Hardie Grant, the book will feature chef Martinez’s recipes and Wyse’s words.

“It’s not necessarily a book for vegans, it’s a cookbook that happens to be vegan,” says Wyse. “So we hope it sits alongside other cookbooks in a way that really stands out, not just in the vegan and plant-based-foods section.”

There will be close to 90 recipes, including their popular breakfast burrito, "crab cakes" with mango salsa, Martinez’s “holy grail” aioli, as well as their doughnuts. There will also be some cocktail and smoothie recipes.

“The book is all about giving back to our customers, and also showing people that veganism isn’t a dirty word, and is just good food, the same mantra as we have for the restaurant,” says Wyse.

A cookbook has always been a part of their plan, according to Wyse. They envisage it also as a fun-to-read lifestyle book, infused with the flair an personality of Martinz, Wyse and their restaurant.
