Queen Victoria Market (QVM) has continued trading as normal throughout the Covid-19 crisis, but it's now launched a pre-order and pick-up option too.

The new service gives Melburnians access to fresh produce, meat and seafood, as well as household essentials such as pasta, eggs, baked items, deli goods and more from at least 40 of its traders – and you never have to enter the market.

Just pre-order your shopping directly from traders by phone, email or online, then drive through the designated pick-up zone on Queen Street at an agreed time to collect it.

“The [market] has been serving the community since 1878 and we continue to be open and here for Melburnians,” QVM CEO Stan Liacos said in a statement.

“Those who can shop safely at the market, directly from stallholders, should continue to do so whilst adhering to safe social distancing and practicing good hygiene. But the new … service allows those who are unable to shop in-person to do so from the comfort of their homes and cars and support local, small, family businesses like those at the market.”

Pick-up is available between 8am and 2pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and from 8am to 3pm on weekends.
