A Moment For: Our Place and Sebastian Pasinetti’s Purple Pride Fruit Loaf

Community is the common theme in all of Sebastian Pasinetti’s work. This month, the writer and Oko Catering co-owner has teamed up with Our Place bakery on a sourdough Pride Month fruit loaf, with all proceeds donated to Victorian Pride Centre, a purpose-built home for LGBTIQA+ communities. While February is not Australia’s official Pride Month, it is marked by significant celebrations including Victoria’s Pride Street Party.
“The idea of breaking bread together, especially in the current climate, felt timely and meaningful,” says Pasinetti, who approached the queer-owned, Heathmont-based bakery Our Place about a collab. The Pride Month loaf is made from purple wheat flour and incorporates Davidson’s plum, rosella flowers and candied green apple. “This collaboration came from a shared belief that food can be a form of care, solidarity and action.”
