Pidapipo has a cult following of gelato-lovers. It’s not surprising. Owner Lisa Valmorbida uses fresh local ingredients and churns gelato daily.
The inside scoop: Pidapipo now offers made-to-order gelato cakes.
“Making cakes seemed to be the natural next step,” says Valmorbida. “Customers have always asked for them.”
The four elaborate cakes are inspired by Valmorbida’s Italian heritage. Every element is made from scratch in the new Windsor store the day before pick up.
The Banoffee has caramel sauce, banana gelato and vanilla semi-freddo layered on a biscuit base and topped with lashings of chocolate.
The Pumpkin Pie is made of sweet-and-spicy pumpkin gelato coated in thick caramel. It sits on a crisp biscuit base and is garnished with pecan croccante (a kind of brittle).
The Bombe Alaska features chocolate sponge wrapped in raspberry-cream gelato and rose gelato. It’s frosted with peaks of caramelised meringue.
There’s also a rich, bacio version of the Bombe Alaska with scorched meringue and gold leaf.
Pidapipo’s gelato cakes are now available to order from Pidapipo Windsor.
