Even if your own parents wouldn’t let you have Macca’s when you were a kid, chances are you were invited to someone else’s birthday party to lose your mind in an ice-cream cake induced sugar high.
Now, gelateria Pidapipo is giving those nostalgic memories a deluxe upgrade with the release of four new ice-cream cakes – some of which can feed up to 15 people.
Pidapipo founder Lisa Valmorbida, has built the new cakes around her store’s most popular gelato flavours. The three new cakes include lamington, passionfruit, peanut butter and a larger version of its signature Bacio Bombe Alaska.
The Lamington Cake is the biggest of the bunch. Layers of fior-di-latte gelato, vanilla cake, raspberry sorbetto and coconut gelato are coated in dark chocolate and desiccated coconut.
For something extravagant go for the Passionfruit Layer Cake Bombe – it features layers of vanilla cake, passionfruit sorbetto and fior-di-latte gelato covered in Italian meringue.
Those looking for a real sugar high should look no further than the Peanut Butter Layer Cake that features layers of chocolate cake, peanut-butter gelato, chocolate gelato and salted-caramel gelato. That’s then coated in caramel chocolate and malt crumb.
And there's also a much bigger Bacio Bombe Alaska – a chocolate cake with bacio gelato covered in Italian meringue.
Previously, pre-ordering was only available at Pidapipo’s Windsor store but now cakes are also available in the CBD and in the coming weeks, Carlton too. The Lamington Cake and Peanut Butter Layer Cake are available on UberEats from next week. Cakes range from $40–$80.
