Pidapipo Windsor will feature four new granita flavours, including rockmelon, lemon, peach and mint. The new store will also offer an expanded menu of gelato sandwiches and gelato cakes.
The daily rotating 20 flavours will be the same as those at Pidapipo in Carlton, and made from scratch every day in the new location.
Melbourne-based interior architect Rabindra Naidoo designed the Lygon Street store, and will also do the second one. Naidoo will stick to the 1950s and ’60s Italian aesthetic, with marble, steel, brass, terrazzo and tiles.
The second store is also slightly larger, and will feature an exposed gelato “laboratory” with an oven and a deep fryer. This will allow many of the items to be made in-house, including the brownies for the chocolate fudge bacio and brownie flavour, and biscuits for the biscotti and cardamom flavour.
Pidapipo Gelateria is opening at 85 Chapel Street, Windsor in March 2016.
