We are sad to hear that the iconic Paterson’s Cakes will be closing it’s doors for the last time on June 30th.

Operating continually since 1916, and driven for all that time by the Schneider family in a variety of capacities, Paterson’s has been part of many Victorian celebrations. But after much consideration the family has decided it’s time to move on, with brother and sister team Peter and Pamela Schneider looking forward to their retirement.

“Both of us want a bit of a rest.” Says Pamela, going on to note that the cost of running three stores across Melbourne in financially uncertain times has also taken its toll. But with so many years in the business (the Windsor store is currently in its 94th year) there are many great memories.

“We have a loyal base of customers who have been coming to us for many years, some have ordered their cakes from us over many generations. It’s been a thrill for us to keep that link going.” Says Schneider. “And we have been offered some great challenges in cake decorating, it’s been very satisfying. The greatest pleasure.”

For now, there’s still over a month of trading before the ovens cool for good, so make the most of the remaining days and check out www.patersonscakes.com.au for last-days specials.

Last day of trading for all three stores (Windsor, Camberwell and Bentleigh) will be Wednesday June 30th.
